Department of Social Sciences

The principle aim of the department of Social Sciences is to help foster young intellectuals who are sensitive to the problems of working people in their understanding of these problems as well as to give them the foundation to produce solutions. This foundation will be developed using the authority of a scientific Marxist approach, which will be sensitive to such topics as class struggle, historical context, and a look at the future of the working class in Turkey. Our program will include both required basic courses as well as elective courses which will help students to focus on social issues of their choosing. In addition, all participants will be be formed, in accordance with their common interests, into research groups which will produce scientific investigations under the supervision of our academic instructors. Our program is open to anyone willing to give the time and effort to become an intellectual in support of the people and not of Capital. We want participants who come to us looking for solutions for the problems that baffle them. The social science program is two years. In the second year all students will be required to present the results of their research groups. Faculty members will be responsible for organizing these work groups based on students' interests. The work of these groups may be open-ended.
